Our client PNG Air - is an established airline in Papua New Guinea. The airline is the leading operator in the country and currently operates in nearly 30 domestic destinations. 

Position

The Maintenance Watch Engineer is responsible for the coordination of AOG aircraft recovery through clear communication with MRO, CAMG, Flight Operations and Operations departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recognising safety as a core value in all decision making involving line and base maintenance.
  • Providing leadership and direction through the application of safety and quality management principles and practises in the conduct of aircraft maintenance activity
  • Demonstrating personal commitment to quality standards, service culture and professionalism and clearly communicating standards and expectations
  • Liaising with the Continuing Airworthiness Management Group (CAMG), MRO, Flight Operations and Ground Operations in regards to aircraft availability.
  • Being the pivot point for the coordination of AOG aircraft recovery through clear communication with the MRO, CAMG and Operations departments.
  • Ensuring in flight malfunction occurrences and defect incidents are reported within the required reporting period.
  • Liaising with the Part 119 Manager Continuing Airworthiness regarding the application of MEL repair intervals and the use of special flight permits
  • Manage and report on OTP performances in relation to delays, flight disruptions, air and taxi returns and cancellations related to Technical.
  • Manage and communicate all reported MEL’s and Technical limitations to all parties concerned.
  • Ensuring compliance with corporate HSE Standards and requirements in the line areas.
  • Liaising with the relevant Technical Service Engineers (TSE) to obtain defect history and troubleshooting information to assist with MRO with safe and efficient aircraft defect rectification on aircraft in operation.
  • Providing technical advice to all levels of management for aircraft breakdowns delays and cancellations.
  • Participate in daily operational meetings where the requirement arises.
  • Communicate with senior management of the Airline in relation to the everyday
  • Communicate with senior management of the Airline in relation to the everyday operation of the airline.
  • Take part in investigations where technical expertise and input are required in relation to Operational occurrences
  • Assist the Continuing Airworthiness Manager in the management of the daily operation from a Continuing Airworthiness point of view.
  • Completing any work delegated by the Continuing Airworthiness Manager.

Requirements
  • Good mature leadership and team building skills.
  • Interpersonal, planning, communication and analytical abilities.
  • Has extensive engineering experience in a senior engineering role in aviation with aircraft acquisition experience.
  • Able to promote a proactive, harmonious work culture.
  • Displays a sound understanding of corporate business objectives and plans including related operational policies and procedures and manual or computerized systems relating to maintenance systems/document control, data presentation
  • DHC8/ATR 72 LAME License or equivalent
  • Extensive knowledge of MEL applications and interpretations.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Airlines operations with regards to continuing airworthiness and Technical Services
  • Ability to become the pivot point of communication for all Technical related issues on the in service aircraft
  • Ability to create effective working relationships between the individual departments of the Airline and its supporting structure such as the MRO and CASA PNG Regulator.
  • Good knowledge of the PNG Aviation environment and regulations will be an advantage
  • Excellent communication and computer skills
  • Ability to think outside the box.
  • Understanding of the Safety, Airworthiness and Commercial aspects of an airline Operation

Terms
