On behalf of our client, PNG Air, a leading airline operating nearly 30 domestic routes in Papua New Guinea, we are seeking an experienced PSS & DCS Manager to lead the effective operation, support, training, and continuous improvement of the airline’s Passenger Service System (PSS), Departure Control System (DCS), and related systems.

Position

The PSS & DCS Manager will report to the General Manager – Commercial and oversee processes, policies, quality assurance, system governance, and user training standards.


Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Aviation Management, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working with airline PSS and/or DCS.
  • Strong knowledge of airline reservations, inventory, fares, check-in, and departure control processes.
  • Experience in system configuration, implementation, upgrades, testing, and vendor management.
  • Experience in process development, policy, QA, and operational standards.
  • Strong people-management, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Experience managing or supporting Helpdesk and/or Training functions is highly desirable.
  • Airline industry experience is essential. Relevant systems or commercial experience is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operation, configuration, and availability of PSS and DCS.
  • Act as the primary business owner and SME for reservations, inventory, fares, check-in, and departure control functions.
  • Coordinate system upgrades, patches, releases, and new functionality with vendors and IT.
  • Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) before system changes are deployed.
  • Monitor system performance and manage/escalate outages and service issues.
  • Develop and maintain the PSS/DCS Process & Policy Manual.
  • Own the department’s QA and standards framework.
  • Oversee user access approvals and system governance.
  • Lead and support Helpdesk and Training teams.
  • Work closely with Commercial, Training, IT, and system vendors to ensure systems and processes remain fit for purpose.

General

The successful candidate will work closely with PNG Air’s Commercial, Training, and IT teams, as well as external PSS/DCS vendors. The role requires strong ownership, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to system reliability, operational efficiency, quality, and user support.
