Our client is seeking a highly experienced aviation professional to serve as the Nominated Person for Flight Operations and Crew Member Training during a new EASA AOC project. The successful candidate must have substantial command and instructor/examiner experience on a large aeroplane and possess thorough knowledge of training concepts for both flight crew and cabin crew. ATR experience and an ATR type rating are advantageously.

The successful candidate will lead the Flight Operations and Crew Member Training functions during the airline’s AOC certification project. This is a hands-on role involving manual development, operational and training preparation, coordination with other postholders, and direct participation in the authority approval process.

The assignment will be primarily remote. However, the successful candidate must be available to travel to the client’s project location within and outside the European Union for scheduled meetings with the client and relevant aviation authority, as well as for interviews, demonstrations, inspections and other critical project activities when required. The successful candidate must also be able to satisfy any residency or local-presence requirements imposed by the competent authority, which may include establishing part-time residence within its jurisdiction

The appointment and combination of functions are subject to acceptance by the relevant aviation authority.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Flight Operations and Crew Member Training workstreams throughout the AOC project.
• Develop and maintain the relevant sections of the Operations Manual, including operational procedures, ATR 72-600 SOPs and crew-training requirements.
• Establish compliant arrangements for operational control, flight planning, crew qualification, training, checking and records.
• Develop and oversee training concepts and programmes for flight crew and cabin crew.
• Coordinate with Safety, Compliance, Continuing Airworthiness, Ground Operations and external training providers.
• Represent the functions during authority meetings, interviews, document reviews, demonstrations and inspections.
• Address Flight Operations and Crew Training findings and provide evidence for closure.
• Support operational readiness and entry into service by developing and overseeing ATR 72-600 training arrangements for flight crew and cabin crew.

Requirements

• Minimum of 4,000 total flight hours, including at least 2,500 hours as Pilot-in-Command.
• Minimum of 1,000 flight hours as a Type Rating Examiner or Type Rating Instructor on a large aeroplane.
• English language proficiency Level 5 or higher.
• ATR experience and an ATR type rating are advantageous.
• Thorough knowledge of crew-training concepts for both flight crew and cabin crew.
• Practical experience and expertise in applying aviation safety standards and safe operating practices.
• Comprehensive knowledge of EU safety regulations and associated requirements and procedures.
• Comprehensive knowledge of an AOC holder’s Operations Specifications.
• Comprehensive understanding of the need for, and content of, the relevant parts of an AOC holder’s Operations Manual.
• Familiarity with management systems, preferably within aviation.
• Appropriate management experience, preferably in a comparable organisation.
• At least five years of relevant work experience, including a minimum of two years in an appropriate position within the aeronautical industry.
• Strong communication and regulatory-documentation skills.
• Ability to satisfy the competent authority’s nomination, residence and presence requirements, including agreement to relocate upon AOC issuance or earlier if required by the authority.
