Our client, a prominent airline based in Papua New Guinea, is currently looking for an experienced General Manager - MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) to lead their MRO facility.

This position is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and strategic vision of the MRO facility, ensuring the successful execution of engineering projects and regulatory compliance while maintaining a robust safety culture.

Key responsibilities:

• Leadership & Management: Provide clear direction to the engineering team, oversee daily operations for efficiency, and mentor staff for professional growth.
• Safety Culture: Foster a positive safety culture, implement corporate safety and quality systems, ensure procedural compliance, and address risks or failures within the MRO.
• Financial Management: Prepare, monitor, and control the yearly maintenance operating budget, optimising resource deployment and capital utilisation.
• Project Management: Lead engineering projects from planning to completion, coordinate with other departments, and review shift/roster patterns for production efficiency.
• Technical Expertise: Act as the primary technical authority, review engineering designs for compliance, and integrate new methodologies to improve quality.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to PNG CASA requirements, EASA certifications, and all relevant regulatory standards and company policies.
• Resource Management: Optimise the use of personnel, equipment, and materials, and oversee the procurement of necessary supplies within budget constraints.
• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate engineering-related risks, conduct risk assessments, and develop contingency plans.
• Client Communication: Collaborate with commercial and operations divisions to understand expectations and provide regular updates on project progress.
• Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives to streamline processes, encourage innovation, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to improve aircraft availability and reliability.

• 10 or more years of experience within the aviation industry.
• Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role managing a sizeable team, ideally within business aviation in Papua New Guinea, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, or the Asian market.
• Hold a CASA PNG Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence (or equivalent) and be type-rated on company-operated aircraft (highly recommended).
• Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated success in delivering productivity improvement initiatives.
• Experience liaising with regulatory bodies such as CASA PNG, CASA Australia, EASA, NZCAA, FAA, or other industry agents.
• Strong understanding of international travel customs and practices, as well as inspection procedures and methods.
• Excellent management skills, strong business acumen, financial literacy, and a detail-oriented approach.
• Good command of both written and spoken English.
