On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced aviation finance professional to join its Finance team as Accounts Payable, based in Papua New Guinea.

Position

This is a senior leadership position responsible for managing the airline's end-to-end Accounts Payable (AP) function. The role combines operational management, process transformation, internal controls, cash flow support, and team leadership. A major focus is driving AP automation and digital transformation using Oracle Fusion ERP.

Key Responsibilities

1.Accounts Payable Operations

  • Oversee invoice processing, approvals, reconciliations, and supplier payments.
  • Ensure accurate coding, tax treatment, and supporting documentation.
  • Manage payments to critical operational suppliers such as fuel providers, airports, engineering vendors, and ground handlers.
  • Handle IATA Clearing House (ICH) invoice accounting.

2. Oracle Fusion ERP & Controls

  • Manage AP processes including PO invoices, non-PO invoices, prepayments, credit notes, reconciliations, and AP-to-GL reconciliation.
  • Ensure proper 2-way and 3-way matching controls and exception management.

3. Automation & Process Improvement

  • Lead AP automation initiatives.
  • Implement workflow approvals, OCR invoice processing, supplier self-service portals, electronic document management, and touchless invoice processing.
  • Develop AP performance dashboards and reporting.

4. Cash Flow & Forecasting

  • Prepare weekly and monthly payment forecasts.
  • Support Treasury funding requirements and working capital management.
  • Monitor major payment commitments and funding risks.

5.  Supplier Reconciliation & Controls

Maintain accurate supplier records, ensure liabilities are properly recognized, and support effective month-end financial close processes.

6. Reporting & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage supplier reconciliations and ageing analysis.
  • Prepare AP ageing, liabilities, cash commitment, and KPI reports.
  • Support audits and management reporting.

7. Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop the AP team.
  • Conduct performance reviews and training.
  • Ensure succession planning and knowledge transfer.

Requirements

Education

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce

Experience

  • Minimum 8-10 years of finance experience
  • At least 5 years in Accounts Payable
  • Experience in airline operations preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle AP module.
  • Experience in AP automation and process improvement initiatives desirable.

  • Remuneration: USD 75,000 to USD 80,000 per annum (negotiable based on experience and qualifications)
