On behalf of my client in the APAC region, I am pleased to introduce a senior aviation safety leadership opportunity Quality Assurance Maintenance Director. This role is suited to an accomplished airworthiness and quality assurance professional with deep experience overseeing Maintenance and Engineering operations within the airline sector.

Position

This Quality Assurance Maintenance Director role reports to the Vice President, Safety, Quality & Security and leads a dedicated team including QA Auditors and the QA Maintenance Manager. The position oversees the airline’s Quality Assurance framework across all Maintenance and Engineering activities, ensuring regulatory compliance, aircraft safety, and consistent performance across both internal and contracted maintenance providers.

Key responsibilities: 

Quality & Airworthiness Governance

  • Own and lead the airline’s Quality Assurance Program for Maintenance and Engineering .
  • Ensure full compliance with PCAR, CAAP regulations, AOC requirements , and international aviation standards.
  • Govern continuous airworthiness programs, including oversight of contracted maintenance providers and technical services .

Audit, Compliance & Regulatory Oversight

  • Lead internal and external quality audits , regulatory inspections, and compliance assessments.
  • Approve and oversee the Annual Quality Audit Plan .
  • Act as a key regulatory interface with aviation authorities and OEMs.
  • Maintain regulatory standing and operational certification integrity.

Safety & Risk Management

  • Lead investigation of mechanical irregularities, incidents, and accidents .
  • Ensure corrective action frameworks prevent recurrence and strengthen system resilience.
  • Govern safety risk management for Maintenance and Engineering operations.

Operational Quality Control

  • Oversee field audits of maintenance and ground operations .
  • Ensure operational practices meet regulatory and internal safety standards.
  • Govern quality assurance of fuel operations (vendor assessment, depot inspections, quality control frameworks) .

Leadership & Organizational Governance

  • Lead QA Maintenance audit teams and managers.
  • Build a culture of quality discipline, safety accountability, and continuous improvement .
  • Embed quality systems into operational and engineering functions.

Strategic Enablement

  • Support airline expansion programs, fleet growth, and operational scaling through strong quality systems.
  • Align quality governance with long -term operational strategy and growth objectives.

Requirements

General requirements:

• 10+ years of progressive experience in aviation maintenance, engineering, safety, quality assurance, or airworthiness .

• Senior leadership experience in: Airline operations, Aircraft maintenance organizations (AMO), Engineering & maintenance governance, Aviation safety & quality functions

• Proven experience leading: Enterprise QA systems, Regulatory compliance frameworks, Audit and oversight programs, Safety and risk management systems

• Prior exposure to: Continuous Airworthiness Programs, Regulatory authority engagement, Contracted maintenance oversight, Multi -stakeholder aviation environments

Educational requirement:

• Engineering degree (Aeronautical, Mechanical, Electrical, or equivalent), OR Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) License with airframe and powerplant ratings
