Our client PNG Air - is an established airline in Papua New Guinea. The airline is the leading operator in the country and currently operates in nearly 30 domestic destinations. 

Position

The Base Maintenance Manager is responsible to the General Manager MRO for the effective management of the Maintenance and Repair (MRO) operational matters


Key Responsibilities:

  • Recognising Safety as a core value in all decision making involving line and base maintenance.
  • Giving leadership and direction to the application of safety and quality management principal and practices in the conduct of aircraft maintenance activity.
  • Demonstrating personal commitment to quality standards, service culture and professionalism and clearly communicating standards and expectations.
  • Managing the accomplishment of all Line and Base [Hangar] maintenance performed on PNG Air aircraft.
  • Liaising with the Part 119 Manger Continuing Airworthiness in regard to aircraft availability.
  • Directing the activities of shift supervisors, maintenance engineers and technical support staff.
  • Ensuring engineering occurrences and defect incidents area are reported within the required reporting period.
  • Directing Supervisors rostered on the Line and Base [Hanger] to ensure aircraft maintenance engineers are supervised and that established and documented safe maintenance practices are adhered to.
  • Ensuring that required technical data, tooling, equipment and spare parts are distributed for the correct accomplishment of planned maintenance task.
  • Ensuring maintenance is carried out in accordance with the standards and procedures in the MOE.
  • Ensuring ground support equipment is serviceable before use.
  • Ensuring compliance with corporate HSE standards and requirements in the line areas.
  • In the absence of the rostered Supervisor acting in the position for the coordination and supervision of maintenance.
  • Ensuring that all maintenance is carried out on time.
  • Ensuring all required records of maintenance and certification requirements are completed and processed in accordance with the MOE.

 


Requirements

Experience required 

  • Good mature leadership and team building skills, interpersonal, planning and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of appropriate processes, procedures and standards in the MOE
  • Organisation skills – able to prioritize tasks and responsibilities.
  • The ability to operate effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
  • The ability to sense and maintain a high level of best practice standards.
  • Results focused
  • Ability to advise senior management team on engineering matters and driving required changes.
  • Tertiary Qualified in Engineering, Aviation or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ managerial experience of 5 years to a senior management position in a Part 145 maintenance organisation holding an A1 rating.
  • Must have 10 years’ experience in the aircraft maintenance industry.
  • AME Licence with type rate ATR42/72 or Dash-8
  • Demonstrated good communication skills (both written/oral).
  • Demonstrate clear knowledge and understanding of the maintenance parts of the company’s exposition and the applicable maintenance provisions of CA Rule Part 145 and CA Rule Part 121.

  • Sick leaves: 9 days (if full-time contract for tour 6 days )
  • Annual Leave Tickets: 4 return tickets per annum (full-time contract)
  • Working hours: Roster 2/3 Shifts
